My husband's parents rented a cottage on Merrymeeting Lake from 1966-1974 from a man my father-in-law worked for. The name of the cottage was the "Loony Bin". It is a small cottage that sat right on the water with a small sandy beach. My husband has many, many fond and wonderful memories of his summer vacations spent on beautiful Merrymeeting Lake at this cottage.
I would like to find the owners of the Loony Bin, to see if they rent their cottage, as I'd like to surprise my husband with a trip back in time to this beautiful place.
If I am correct, I believe the Loony Bin is a green cottage, located just off N. Shore Rd on the first point north of Elly point. You cannot see the cottage from N. Shore; it is down a long driveway (don't know if this is a driveway or a road...don't know name if it is).
The owner of the cottage, when my husband's family vacationed there, was Fred Dodson. I don't know if this family still owns the property.
Any information on contacting the owners (or, if the reader prefers, you could contact them and provide my email address) or history of this cottage would be most appreciated. Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
J. Ellena
