I wonder if it would be a good idea to limit the use of PWCs to say after 10:00am and before 4:00PM. This would prevent PWC users from waking the neighborhood up ?

Let's be reasonable. No PWC operating between 4 PM and 10 AM? Anyone who goes to bed at 4 PM is missing out on a lot of beautiful MML sunsets. With no bow lights, PWC have to tie up at dusk. That's good enough for me.

Myself, I enjoy sitting on the porch and having my morning coffee looking out over a smooth as glass lake. I'm happy when the boat traffic doesn't really get going till after my morning coffee. After I finish my coffee I enjoy seeing lots of boats, skiiers, fishermen, and PWC zooming around having fun. All the action reminds me that I'm lucky enough to be sitting with a front and center seat on a vacation paradise.

I think it would be very dangerous to start limiting the hours of PWC. While I don't own one myself, I think a law like this would eventually lead to limits on the hours all "power" boats could operate!

My favorite time to ride my PWC is the last hour or so before sunset. There is not much traffic out on the lake and, absent any significant wind, the water is usually pretty smooth.

You don't usually see any PWC's in the early morning, but there are certainly a few skiers out taking advantage of the glassy water. Limiting that usage would seem to be the logical next step in noise abatement restriction and I can't get behind that one either. I'm sorry, but the early mornings and late afternoon/early evenings offer wonderful boating and PWC opportunities that are just not available at any other time of the day. To me, that's part of the attraction of living on the lake and why I try to spend as much time there as I can.

Don't get me wrong. I don't support any new time restrictions for PWC. The fact that they have to tie up at dusk (due to lighting restrictions) should be the only restriction on usage. As far as the morning goes, I've yet to be awakened by a PWC. Newer models are pretty quiet, quieter than most boats. Chainsaws, skill saws, hammers, dumptrucks and backhoes, now those do wake me up.
