CLOSURE PLANNED FOR MERRYMEETING LAKE (NEW DURHAM) BOAT ACCESS SITE

CONCORD, N.H. -- The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department has announced upcoming closures at the Department's boat access facility at Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham, N.H.

The parking lot at the site will be closed from June 21 through August 31, 2007. Additionally, the Fish and Game boat ramp at the site will be closed from July 9 through August 31, 2007.

The Merrymeeting Marina, located at 317 Merrymeeting Lake Road, has made its boat ramp available as an option for boaters to access the lake this summer. There will be no fee to launch at the marina's ramp, however boaters wishing to park their vehicle and/or trailer at the marina will be charged a daily parking fee of $20.

The closure at the Fish and Game access facility at Merrymeeting Lake is related to work being done to replace the water line to the Department's nearby Powder Mill Fish Hatchery. This project does not involve repairs to the Merrymeeting Lake boat ramp.

Fish and Game works in partnership with the public to conserve, manage and protect the state's fish, wildlife and marine resources and their habitats. The Department's Land Resources Bureau acquires land for public water access sites, and its Support Services Division refurbishes existing sites and builds new public access areas. :rolleyes:I just received the following email from Fish and Game about lake access at the dam. Note that this extension falls during the time of year that the marina is the busiest pulling and storing boats. I can't blame the marina for charging a daily parking fee. They have allowed free access to their private ramp all summer long.
Explain to me again, with this extension into October, why can't the State repair the boat ramp for next year? The whole area is going to be closed for another 2 months!

CLOSURE EXTENDED FOR MERRYMEETING LAKE (NEW DURHAM) BOAT ACCESS SITE

CONCORD, N.H. -- The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department boat access facility at Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham, N.H., will be closed through October 31, 2007, for completion of work being done to replace the water line to the Department's nearby Powder Mill Fish Hatchery. This project does not involve repairs to the Merrymeeting Lake boat ramp. The previous target date for completion of the work had been August 31, 2007, but this date has been extended because of complications in construction.

There is no fee to launch at the marina's ramp; however, boaters wishing to park their vehicle and/or trailer at the marina will be charged a daily parking fee of $20.
