The NH Fish & Game department will finally begin work on temporary repairs to the public boat ramp this week. The MMLA has been requesting temporary repairs to the existing facility for some time. But F&G wanted to wait until they could begin construction of the new, permanent facility.

Construction of the new ramp is now planned for the Fall of 2007. Existing conditions at the ramp had deteriorated to such a degree that the MMLA once again requested interim repairs to the facility. The following response was received from F&G."We have confirmed with NH Dept of Environmental Services that since the temporary repair work to the ramp is not in the water we can proceed.

As I send this email our crew is headed to the boat access site. The crew will being placing stone in the "pothole" in the asphalt section of the ramp.

The plan is to see how this holds up over the weekend and then determine if further temporary repairs are necessary. I think this is the best manner to remedy the situation and try to keep the ramp open for use.

If the stone does not hold up our proposed action would be to fill the hole with concrete mix. To do this we would propose closing the ramp for a period of 5 to 7 days. If we get to this point we would look to do this during the week in order to limit impacts to weekend activity.

I have asked our crew to confirm with me once the stone has been placed."
