The MMLA Watershed Conservation Fund is used to help preserve the lands and watershed surrounding Merrymeeting Lake.
In the past, the Watershed Conservation Fund helped support the following efforts to preserve the lake watershed
- Support for the successful effort to preserve the 200+ acres of Birch Ridge for future generations
- Financial support to effort to ensure that deed restrictions on several Owl’s Head properties are enforced, thereby protecting a large portion of this area from excessive development
- Enforcing previously acquired rights that insure that any development at the terminus of South Shore Road will not adversely impact the Merrymeeting watershed
- Ongoing monitoring of land planning and use around the lake
