THEME: “NATURE: CELEBRATING OUR LAKE, HILLS AND FORESTS”
SATURDAY, AUGUST 15
MEET AT DAM AREA AT 3:00 PM
Please join the MMLA Boat Parade on Saturday, August 15. We’ll gather at the dam at 3:00 PM and head out along South Shore, then around the East End, and back along the North Shore, finishing up back at the dam around 5:00 PM. The lead boat is a pontoon boat and will be identified with a MMLA banner and green ecology flag.
The pace will be slow and steady. Please follow along in single file and maintain a respectful distance from rafts and moorings.
Decorating your boat is not required, but if you would like to decorate, the theme is “Nature: Celebrating Our Lake, Hills and Forests”. Let your imagination run “wild” so to speak! When decorating, please keep in mind that shoreline spectators will see the STARBOARD side of your boat. We respectfully request that there be no political themes. This is to be a fun event — an afternoon respite from the stresses of life and an opportunity to celebrate the beauty and unity of our community.
Need decorating ideas – think “nature” – so trees, fish, water, waves, mountains – you might have a boat full of hikers wearing boots and backpacks and holding walking sticks with a sign saying “Birch Ridge Community Forest” – or you might decorate your boat with cardboard flowers or fish – or even have a boat decorated to look like a loon or a moose – boats could also spread “nature stewardship” messages such as “Recycle”, “Don’t Pollute”, “Protect our Watershed” – your creativity and imagination are welcome!!
Looking forward to seeing you this Saturday afternoon for the 2020 MMLA Boat Parade!!
